Your Waterproof Floors Aren’t Covered if It’s beneath the floors! It is time to explain the term “waterproof” in an honest and objective way without the hype that normally accompanies this topic. First, waterproof must be divided into two categories; water spilled from above and water/moisture coming from below. It is important to understand the term “waterproof” doesn’t cover water/moisture coming from below the floor, which can sit for prolonged periods of time.
Unfortunately, there is a misunderstanding because of how the industry has positioned waterproof materials in the market. Customers can quickly learn that manufacturers do not cover damage caused by water/moisture from underneath the floor. Damage underneath the floors can be caused by a bursting pipe amongst other things. Water and moisture gets trapped.
The same technology that enables floors to be waterproof, also prevents water from evaporating if its seeps from beneath the floor.
Therefore, waterproof floors prevent water from damage when it is above the floor but not beneath. Water-moisture under the flooring is not covered by warranty. Manufacturers and dealers should be transparent and explain to consumers, that when flooring is considered waterproof, it’s not a bulletproof product.
The Solution to Traditional Flooring
Magnetic flooring is a technology that is resilient and allows moisture to dissipate between the planks. In severe flooding cases, the planks can be quickly removed to allow the membrane below to dry. Since the membrane is loose laid, the reinstallation of magnetic flooring is resolved in less time and low to no cost to the owner.
Magnetic flooring is durable as you can see in our video.
